The Branding of Foon
Hello From The Magic Tavern is a Chicago-based improv podcast set in a fictional fantasy world called Foon. The host, Arnie Niekamp has fallen through a rift behind the Burger King on Clark & Irving in Chicago, and ended up in this fantastical world. Every week, he and his two buds, Chunt the shapeshifter and Usidore the Wizard, host a show at the Vermillion Minotaur, a local tavern, where they interview all sorts of beasts and characters from the world.
The show has become wildly popular, and the cast does live shows all over the country. I've been a fan for over a year and as a design exercise decided to brand some of the establishments and retailers within the world. In addition, I created a poster for the crew's live show in DC on November 14, 2017 which was sold to attendees as a souvenir.

DC Live Show Poster 11.14.17
Above is the poster that was printed. Below are some early and late-stage concepts for the poster. The team sold over 60 posters at the event!
The Vermillion Minotaur
The tavern where the boys host their podcast has an interesting menu.
Chubbins Chamber Pots & So Forth
A mainstay of Foon, Chubbins is a longtime "sponsor" of the podcast and advertises his whiz-worthy wares as sturdy, basic and cheap.
Offices & Bosses Business Card
The people of Foon often get together for a rousing game of Offices & Bosses, which is like Dungeons & Dragons here on Earth. But since magic and fire-breathing beasts are boring to the denizens of Foon, friends choose to role play as mundane office characters like Dan Smith (Chunt's character) who is an office temp. Naturally I had to make the most corporate, unoriginal business card for Chunt's character. Adal Rifai, the real-life human who plays Chunt in the show, actually has a short-run set of these cards.
